Recommended Personal Checklist for your day on the water
- Current TPWD Hunting and/or Fishing License with appropriate endorsements. (Reference TPWD Outdoor Annual for license requirements)
- Hat
- Sunscreen/Sunblock
- Sunglasses
- Medicine
- Diabetes insulin
- Sea Motion: Check with your physician
- Aspirin
- Towels
- Footwear: We recommend deck shoes, sneakers, or flip flops. If you plan to wade in water, then we recommend a hightop laced shoe for your feet protection. Normally the bottom is sandy to sticky mud, however, protecting your feet from unforeseen sharp obstacles, shell, etc will help to ensure you do not fall victim to a cut or abrasion. Stingrays are as prominent as the game fish so understand the risks.
- Food/Snacks/Drinks: You are responsible for your dietary needs. We provide cold bottled water and an ice chest to keep your food and drinks cool.
- Type of Shirts/Pants: We recommend you wear light fitting clothing, which can block the sun. Some anglers prefer to wear light long sleeve shirts. Remember you will be exposed to the sun for a long period of time. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen around your ankles and top of your feet if exposed.
- Cell Phone/Camera: Usually we have service out to approximately 7nm offshore. We have service within the Inter Coastal and Bay System.
- Fun loving positive attitude!
- Boats mean water. Captain Grem does have a small dry box space for wallets, keys, phones, etc. Anything else meaningful should be protected in waterproof bags as if it would be kept from rain.
Emergencies: We are usually within cell phone service out to approximately 7 nm. We have VHF radio onboard to contact the United States Coast Guard. Additionally, we have signaling devices which can attract other boats that are usually around where we fish. Should a loved one onshore have an emergency and they need to reach you, they should first attempt to contact you via your cell phone number. A float plan is always left with our office. Your safety is our number one priority.
